2023 MMCGME Quality Forum
The 11th annual MMCGME Quality Forum event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 31, 2023. There will be a keynote speaker, food and refreshments will be provided. There will be a poster competition for residents, fellows, and medical students to share ideas with the local medical education community. There will be a panel of judges looking for the best Patient Safety or Quality Initiative poster presentation by local trainees.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS:

- Submissions may be in a Project in Progress or a Completed Project
COMPLETED PROJECTS:
- In the initial submission, include a title and a 1000-word abstract.
- Presentations will occur on large TV screens / monitors. A physical poster is unnecessary.
- Format can either be in the form of multiple PowerPoint slides or a single PDF or PowerPoint slide displaying the entire poster.
- Representing data with run charts is strongly encouraged when appropriate.
- Interventions, when employed, should be adequately and concisely described.
- Using graphics instead of words is highly encouraged when able.
- Keep the word count to a minimum to allow for improved readability.
PROJECTS IN PROGRESS:
- They can be at any stage of the QI progress.
- A presentation/slides are optional for in-progress submissions.
- If you have a presentation, slides can be in PowerPoint or PDF format; a physical poster is unnecessary.
- There is a section in the submission survey where you can indicate specific areas you would like feedback on. A few examples to request input on are:
- Defining the problem
- Defining the desired outcome
- Defining test of change
- Analyzing the effect of change
- Maintaining change over time

Three cash prizes will be awarded to the submitter for top scoring posters.
FORMAT
All presenters will be divided into groups consisting of 4-6 presentations and one judge. Every presenter will have a turn to share their project with the group. You will have 5 minutes to share and 3 minutes for questions. Once all groups have shared, the judges will review the evaluations and the winning posters will be selected.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
- Title and Aim Statement: Is the topic and scope clear? Does the aim statement referenced include SMART criteria (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound)?
- Data Utilized: Does the project use appropriate measure(s) to define the problem and gauge the effectiveness of the intervention? Is data collected both before and after any interventions?
- Intervention Employed: Does the project include an intervention? Is a rationale given for the choice of intervention? Is it sufficiently described? Are the results of the intervention defined?
- Visual Clarity and Impact: Does the poster effectively communicate the relevant aspects of the project?
- Presentation Effectiveness: Does the presenter effectively summarize their project? Do they appropriately answer questions?
We strongly encourage you to attend the entire event. At a minimum, we require your attendance for the competition portion of the event. There will be free food, and a keynote speaker will present after the competition.

Dr. Webber is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota. He attended medical school at the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine before completing his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Minnesota where he also served as Chief Resident. He currently practices Hospital Medicine at the MHealth Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center East Bank.
Dr. Webber served as the Medical Director of Units 5B and 6B at the University of Minnesota Medical Center East Bank before being named the Senior Medical Director of Adult Medical/Surgical Units on the East Bank. He has interest in quality improvement, resident and faculty education, and sepsis care.
Dr. Webber also serves as the Associate Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs for the Department of Medicine, in which he leads initiatives to improve clinical operations, quality and safety of care across the breadth of clinical services and practice locations.
