History of MMCGME

MMCGME originated in 1980 as the Minnesota Association of Public Teaching Hospitals (MAPTH) to:

• Enhance and develop GME operations of the public teaching hospitals
• Alleviate governmental burdens
• Develop a more cost effective GME delivery system
• Assist the University in educating and meeting the needs for supplying trained providers

In 1999 MAPTH changed its name to the Community Council on Graduate Medical Education. 

In 2002 we became Metro Minnesota Council for Graduate Medical Education to:
sustain collaboration and GME through:

• centralized state of the art information systems
• uniform cost effective administrative procedures
• core curriculum and
• common policies

In 2006 MMCGME amended its bylaws to include Associate Membership.
